The Intern's Tale
Published in Paperback by Grove Press (December, 1982)
Author: Colin Douglas
Average review score:

A housemans tale
I first read this book many years ago after I completed medical school in the UK where the book is set - there it is called a houseman's tale - . It is brilliantly funny and irreverent. Even funnier having completed my own internship. Interestingly in the UK it was made into a TV series with Helen Baxendale as the lead role- Ross's English girlfriend in Friends. If you have read the 'House of God', treat yourself to this and the other 5 books in the series. My favorite is 'bleeders come first'

The international man : the complete guidebook to the world's last frontiers : for freedom seekers, investors, adventurers, speculators, and expatriates
Published in Unknown Binding by Graham Pub. ()
Author: Douglas R. Casey
Average review score:

Still the finest guide to emigration
This somewhat dated book, last published 15 years ago, remains the best work on where to find a good home-country ... other than your own.

From Canada to Kenya, Casey give a no-holds-barred description of dozens of countries including law, tax, opportunity Ð and why each is a good or horrid place to live.

Internetworking with TCP/IP, Vol. III: Client-Server Programming and Applications, Linux/Posix Sockets Version
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall (11 September, 2000)
Authors: Douglas E. Comer, David L. Stevens, Marshall T. Rose, and Michael Evangelista
Average review score:

A perfect book for linux network programming
If you are a linux lover and want to dig into client/server (socket) programming , this book is a good choice.

Compared with Steven's Unix Network Programming, this book is more simply and clearly written. Not like Steven who is an expert in explaining details, Comer is good at giving a sound explanation of the network programming principle both in theory and in practice. You will find nice "Algorithm" part in many of the examples which is a good abstraction of the general problem. So after the reading you will feel comfortable because of the gain in not only knowledge but also the kind of insight you could use toward other problems. As a distinguished professor in computer science, Comer spells out the single word of engineering ,"Simplicity is beauty", again by presenting this clearly written TCP/IP programming book.

Also some most exciting stuff like RTP (realtime transport protocol), Web server programming models are also included in this latest edition of his Vol 3. And as you expected, the full source code of all the chapters is available online.

Introduction to Linear Regression Analysis
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (January, 1982)
Authors: Douglas C. Montgomery, Douglas C. Montomery, and Elizabeth A. Peck
Average review score:

An excellent book
This is one of the best books on the market for a course on linear regression analysis. It contains everything from the basic least squares equations to problems of multicollinearity, and a section on non-linear regression is also thrown in for good measure. Not a cheap book (Wiley would do well to consider inexpensive paperback editions for non-plutocrats)but highly recommended nevertheless. The book contains many applications to real-life problems and questions are included at the ends of the chapters, making this a valuable textbook for a very wide range of students.

Where was this Book 5 Years Ago?
Your book definitely saved me a LOT of work preparing to teach my QuickBooks classes. I found the exercises to be just the right length for what I'm doing. The good news is that I learned a thing or two from the book myself!

Invitation to live
Published in Unknown Binding by ()
Author: Lloyd C. Douglas
Average review score:

Wealthy heir takes up dare to be poor.
Barbara is told that she has no way to know if people like her for her money and position or for herself. The question bothers her so much that she takes up a new life as a working girl in another part of the country and ends up remaking herself and influencing others to do so too. Full of remarkable coincidences as books of this era tended towards, but great story about remaking identity, attitudes, and much more.
